Adaptation of Agentic AI

ABSTRACT

As agentic AI systems grow in capability and scope, adaptation becomes a central mechanism for improving performance, reliability, and generalization. This paper unifies the rapidly expanding research landscape into a systematic framework that spans both agent adaptations (internal reasoning and memory) and tool adaptations (external API interfacing). The authors clarify the design space of adaptation strategies, making their trade-offs explicit and providing practical guidance for dynamic system design.
